Ahh I can smell it in the air…that fresh scent of a new football season. High school football got off to a big blitz on Friday night with more of the same from last year.  Oak Grove came to town to play Clinton and deliver a smack down of champion proportions (34-7)

Around the Metro rivalry was in session with the Brandon Bulldogs taking on the Pearl Pirates. Play was unDURR way as running back Patrick Durr flashed onto the field with 140 yards and four touchdowns. He had quiet a stage to perform in front of, with nearly 7,000 fans in attendance.

In the private sector, Jackson Prep continued their winning streak to 27, beating the JA Patriots 20 – 7.

For all the highlights and statewide scores check out the Blitz 16 homepage at www.wapt.com/blitz/index.html

On the college scene, the teams with new head coaches (Fedora at Southern – Nutt at Ole Miss) came out on top, both clinching their first victories of the season.  STATE fell short in their season opener against LA Tech in a disappointing loss, 22-14.

There is no doubt football season has arrived!  Each Friday and Saturday is a chapter to the big story that ever team hopes to be a part of – Championship.

Here are a few photos from the Ole Miss game against Memphis.  Enjoy and let me hear your feedback!
